Where else have you lived?
Grew up in Portland IN (Amy) and Alexandria IN (Drew); once married, other than Bluffton, we lived in Huntington IN for 1 year, Portland for 3 years, and Melbourne, Australia for 3 years.
Why did you choose to Live Better in Wells County?
We felt at home in the community. It's small enough that you feel like you know many in the community but big enough that you get places like Lowe's. We knew it would be a good place to start my piano studio because we already knew a lot of people, the median income is fairly good, and there was a need/demand for piano teachers in the area.
Tell us about your community/neighborhood. What do you like best? What makes it different?
We live about 4 miles out of town. Our neighbors are friendly and happy to lend a hand when needed.
What is your passion, and how does Wells County help fulfill it?
A few things: First, Drew is into aviation and he was happy to have a small grass strip airfield with a hanger where we could store our airplane for an affordable price. Second, we love eating at interesting restaurants and while Bluffton doesn't necessarily have a lot of restaurants to choose from (one downside), it is close enough to Fort Wayne and other towns that there are lots of good eats within a short driving distance. Lastly, I love to read and we have a wonderful library that is always looking at how they can expand and make improvements.
What is your favorite outside activity, and where is your favorite place to do it?
I love riding bikes on the Interurban Trail through town, the River Greenway, and out at Ouabache State Park.
How do you interact with your community?
We are involved in our church and small community group within the church - they're the people we tend to "do life with." I'm also in a book club at the library that meets once a month.
